Jeremy Jennings is Ernst
& Young’s Global Director for Regulatory & Government
Relations. Prior to joining Ernst & Young in September 2002
he was a partner with Arthur Andersen where he worked for over 25
years. Since 1990 he has been based in Brussels, formerly as Andersen’s
Head of EU Public Affairs.
Jeremy is responsible
for monitoring regulatory issues and challenges for Ernst &
Young across the globe but with a particular focus on the European
Institutions where he has a wide range of personal contacts. He
is also responsible for devising, implementing and/or coordinating
appropriate lobbying initiatives that respond to the professional
and regulatory challenges that impact Ernst & Young, in close
cooperation with the other large accounting firms.
Jeremy is Chairman of
the European Contact Group, representing the views of the six largest
international accounting networks in Europe, and controls a network
of regulatory partners of the six ECG member firms spanning some
thirty-eight countries. In this capacity, he has been directly responsible
for coordinating input to the European Commission and European Parliament
in connection with the EU 8th Directive.
He is also a member of
the Global Public Policy Committee of the Big 4 accounting firms,
reporting directly to the global Chairmen and CEO’s of these
firms.
He is also Chairman of
the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies in Belgium and
a Vice-President of the Council of British Chambers of Commerce
in continental Europe. He was awarded an OBE in the New Year Millennium
honours for services to UK/Belgian trade.
